A Million Masks - Chapter 1 Yvonne pressed her nose against the window, her mouth concealed by the fog from her excited breath. Her hands slid down the glass as her eyes were wide with wonder, darting around to take in the landscape beyond the transparent barrier. Pulling her face away from the pane, she turned her head and gazed at her father, eyes sparkling with exuberance. “Father, father! It’s snowing outside! May I go out and play?” She asked, her mouth frozen into an innocent smile as she awaited his reply. Sitting with one leg crossed over the other in a brown leather armchair, her father’s gaze met only with the newspaper in his lap.
